1. Login

Download and install Sopcast client, then click to start your SopCast video experience!

Sign in with your current user account at www.sopcast.com . If you don't have a user name yet, you may choose to sign in anonymously or click the link on lower-left corner to create a new account.

2. Home Tab

Some key links of Sopcast is listed in home tab, we can find more detail information about SopCast by clicking these links.

From release 1.1.2, the function hint will be appeared when mouse moves over all buttons.

In the picture above:
a. Address area (in red frame), channel history will listed in drop-down box, you can input a sop address ( such as sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6001) in it to view a channel, click to start the channel.
b. Option Tab Area (in yellow frame), include Home, Channel, and MyServer 3 tabs.

c. System menu Area (in blue Frame), include Sub(scribe), Apply, Option and Logout 4 Buttons。click Sub(scribe) button to gain more channels, click Apply button to Apply a your own channel.

3. Channel Tab

Channel list control buttons:


Press this button down to list all your favorate channels, press this button up to list all channels.
Press this button to Expand/Collapse channel list.
Press this button to Refresh channel list manually.

Press this button to choose the way of sorting channels, this can be by channel group, by class, by channel id, by regions, by language and by favorate. You can alse choose to view channel list in which language, noadays English and Chinese are available.

This blue bar is a channel quality indicator, click this bar to view detail information about this channel (as shown in the picture below).

Next to quality indicator are channel id, channel name and channel ratio in turn, channel ratio is marked by square brackets.

4. Player Window

Click channel name to open Player window and the channel will start automatically.

Player Option Buttons:

Press this button to hide main window and set player window top most. you can drag this window to any corner of your screen, thus you can view channels while you surfing over Internet. enjoy it.

Press this botton to display main window, and switch channels.

Press this button to Zoom out player window.
Press this button to Zoom in player window.
Press this button to Add the chanel to your Favorites.
Press this button to Record the channel.
This button will displayed when the channel is recording.
Press this button to Hide player window, this button is disabled when main window is hide.

Player control buttons:


Press this button to Start the channel.
Press this button to Stop the channel.
Press this button to Tune Volume.
Infomation box, name of the playing channel, buffer, and live massage will be shown in it.
Buffer indicator
When the channel buffer is high, but the picture is freeze, press this button to Refresh the picture.
Press this button to Switch player window to full screen.
Press this button to player the channel in external media player, such as Windows Media Player, RealPlayer.

5. “MyServer” Tab

Click on MyServer tab to show broadcast interface.

There are 3 ways to broadcast a video to other Internet sop users on:

a. Broadcast a file

Choose the “File” radio button and select your file from local computer ， There are 4 file types supported: *.asf/*.wmv, *.rm/*.rmvb, *.spl, *.mp3

Note: For best result, please use asf or wmv file!

b. Broadcast files in a folder( New feature!)

No longer need to edit a spl file.

c. Broadcast a stream 。

Choose 'Stream' radio button to play a existing mms stream, e.g. mms://192.168.0.10/mystream.

2). Channel

a. Channel ID : Same as the Channel ID you applied from www.sopcast.com 。

b. Program Name : Name of channel , can be empty. You can feed this box in this format: [en] name in English[/en][cn]Name in Chinese[/cn]

3) Server

a. Server addr : The URL of the Sop broker , you may use the default value 。

b.Account Name and Password : same as the username and password you sign up on www.spcast.com 。

c. Service Port : You may use the default value 3902. Change to other value if there is conflict. Remember to allow other to access the port in your firewall setting.

Ready to start your broadcast? Now click the “Start “button. Notice the status bar changed to 'buffering' 。 When the buffer is full, your new channel will appear in the channel list.

While broadcasting, you should wonder what is the quality of your program, to monitor your channel, just click the “Monitor” button.

6. Other Options

SopCast support 11 language up to today, include English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese interface etc.
If you want to play multiple channels on one computer, just tick off the “Allow only one instance of Sopcast” checkbox, and start more sopcast instances to play your channels.

The default service port of SopServer is 3902 ， you may change to other value.
